When the marathon discussion was over, Troy and Daryl exited Wade's house together.

"So you wanted to talk to me in private?" Troy said.

Daryl nodded. "I wanted to run something by you to see if you're interested."

"Shoot."

"I have a lot of books and movies that I've put out over the years. None of them has been very successful. I'm still hoping that someday my work will be discovered and determined worthy of someone's time and money. There's a good chance I'll be dead before that happens. I don't want this work to be wasted. I've been on the lookout for a bright and energetic and faithful Christian who could be the steward of my intellectual property."

"Really? That's quite flattering. How would that work?"

"When I die, I would bequeath you ownership of my work. You would do whatever you want to market them and you'd receive the proceeds from any sales. If you don't do any better than I have, you won't be quitting your day job to market my materials. But if something popped, you could make a nice chunk of change from them. My hope is that they'll still be out there changing people's lives long after I'm gone."

"Interesting proposal, Daryl. That's not really my strong suit either. I don't know."

"You certainly don't have to give me an answer today. Take your time contemplating and praying about it. I have a couple of my movies in the trunk of my car. Let me grab them so you can experience a sample of what you'd be working with."

Troy followed Daryl to his car and took the movies from his hand and examined the covers. "Cool. I'll recruit Abby to help me check these out. Since we're getting married in the near future, I think I should consult her before giving you an answer."

"Absolutely. I wouldn't want it any other way. And here's my business card with my webpage address. Maybe you can check out my blog. And by the way, I found it highly ironic that you chose Zorro for your cover-up identity. When I was a kid I used to fantasize that I was Zorro and that I'd be wounded in a fight and a beautiful senorita would nurse me back to health."

Troy laughed. "Why didn't you tell that story inside?"

"Are you kidding? Make a confession like that in front of someone as old as Wade? He'd have thought I was nuts."

Troy pondered informing Daryl that Wade had also daydreamed about being the Disney hero, but decided that was confidential information, even if it might make Daryl feel less loony.

Daryl seemed a bit embarrassed by his confession. "You, on the other hand, no doubt know exactly what it feels like to fantasize about being with someone special. Well, in your case, you don't have to daydream about it because you have a real flesh and bone helpmate. Anyway, I thought you'd get a kick out of my history with–" He sang rest of his sentence. "Zorro, the fox so cunning and free.
